DIY Greener Lifestyles

Solar panels are a great way to interact more positively with your world. They use just a tiny fraction of the near-infinite energy that the sun gives us every day to power our lives. Supposedly you can generate enough energy to power your house and make money on your electric bill at the same time. You can even use RV solar panels to power your camper for a nearly infinite camping trip.

The first thing that usually discourages people from installing solar panels is the cost. For a residential home, commercial panels and installation can run upwards of $30,000 depending on where you live and how much of a system you want. However, if you do a bit of creative research, you can turn it into an enjoyable experience that’s fun for the whole family. Just follow these simple steps:

1. Buy a good manual that will tell you everything you need to know about how to make your own solar panels. Investing $50 on a good manual will save you dozens of hours of frustration. With the money you’re going to save building your own panels, it only makes sense to spend $50 to get the job done right.

2. Order the solar cells online. A solar cell is the main component of the panel, the surface which actually converts light into electricity. It’s possible to make these yourself, but that’s more of a science project than something which is going to be a reliable power source. Solar Cells are widely available, and cost less than $100 each.

3. Find the other materials for the case. This should only take you a few minutes and under $30 per panel. I’ve seen sites claiming that you can get this stuff even cheaper. You also need to get the electronics you need (eg. wiring, converters, volt meter, etc.) that you need to complete the project. This will vary a bit for everybody, depending on what you plan to do, but your manual should tell you everything you need to know.

4. Schedule a fun building strategy. This makes a great family activity or a block party. Think of it as a 21st century barn raising. People will definitely be interested and volunteer to help out if they know what you’re up to.

So there it is in four steps. You could literally have your home running entirely on solar power by the end of the week for under $1,000 total! Eliminate you power bills (or even get paid for extra energy!) and do something that’s good for you and good for the earth.

If you’d like to here some first hand experience about solar energy panals then look no further. We’ll show you just how easy it can be. If you’re interested in RV Solar Energy Panels, then this is the site for you.
