Wow! Take a look at what we at Green Products found – a folding commuter bike from Montague called the SwissBike TX.
Now this is one of those great green products; Montague, the makers of the folding bike have a new one, the
, built with the commuter in mind. This is one nice looking and fine-riding bike. Now if your know anything about Montague bikes, you know they have the folding bike down to an art form. You can fold or unfold the new SwissBike TX in about 30 seconds. Now place the folded bike in a Montague carrying bag and it’s ready to put in your trunk or carry to just about anywhere. Montague built this around an idea called Drive and Cycle; it sure would be nice to drop the car at a public car park, take out the bike, unfold it, put on your helmet and head off to work. When you arrive, fold the bike, and carry it to your office or cubicle. When folded, the SwissBike footprint is only 36 inches by 24 inches by 12 inches, so it takes up very little space, and weighs in at a little over 30 pounds. The
, with its quality design and excellent accessories will last many years. When you average the cost over 10 years, you will pay around 70 dollars a year. Here in California, we have incentives** in place that will pay you for riding to work. If you add in the clean air incentives and the gas savings, you could end up paying for the bike much sooner than that. In addition, you get the benefits of exercise, increased levels of endorphins (natural feel-better juice), and the knowledge that you have reduced your carbon footprint. The SwissBike comes with: a frame made of Double tube 7005 series aluminum, 21 speeds, a Shimano TX Tourney 7-speed rear derailleur, Promax disc brakes, and SR Suntour crankset, just to name a few. Two frame sizes are available for the SwissBike, 18-inch or 20-inch. The standover height, the height of the top tube, is either 29 or 30 inches depending on the frame chosen. With the current state of the economy, threat of obesity, and the outlook for the global climate, it makes sense to commute by bike. Montague’s Drive and Cycle commuting has proven to be effective in bridging the gap between commuting by car and commuting by bike, allowing people to have the flexibility to choose the mode of transportation needed at the moment. Green Products believes that the SwissBike supports individual healthiness, decreases roadway overcrowding, and aids in a better environment. **The State law in California requires employers who pay employees parking lot fees to give a cash allowance as a replacement for a parking space. Assembly Bill 2109, Katz; Chapter 554, Statutes of 1992, is called the parking cash-out program. After many studies, it has been shown that cash instead of paid parking persuades employees to find other means of transportation to their place of employment, like carpooling, vanpooling, bicycling, public transit, or walking.
